Emma is a passionate educator and mom of two with a love for outdoor learning. She holds both a Teaching Certificate and an ECE certificate and she draws inspiration from progressive research in child development and attachment-based care. Emma has worked at a Nature Preschool & Kindergarten program and she sees incredible value in the process of learning through art, risky play, open-ended, hands-on experiences in nature.

 

My brief Philosophy

I believe meaningful learning grows through relationships, curiosity, freedom, play and time spent in nature.

Children are given space to wonder, explore, take age-appropriate risks, work through challenges, create, ask questions and follow ideas that are meaningful to them. I value the process of learning — the thinking, experimenting, problem solving and discovery that happens along the way — just as much as the knowledge children eventually gain.

Free play is a big part of Nature Nest, but it is never “just play.” It is intentionally protected time within a thoughtful environment where children can build relationships, develop independence, navigate social challenges, test their capabilities and become deeply engaged in their own ideas.

My philosophy is also ever-evolving. It continues to grow and shift alongside the children and families I work with, my experiences as an educator, and my own journey as a parent.

Nature Nest is a place for wonder, connection, courage, curiosity and childhood itself.
